Nominations are currently being accepted for this year’s Harvest Awards. The Harvest Luncheon traditionally kicks off the Hillsborough County Fair. The 2021 event is scheduled for Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the Fairgrounds located east of Brandon on Highway 60. The 2020 event was cancelled due to COVID. Nomination forms must be received at the fair office no later than July 15, 2021.
Individuals can either nominate themselves or others in eight different categories including: Farm Family of the Year, Lifetime Achievement in agriculture, Outstanding Agribusiness, Outstanding Public & Community Service, Outstanding Your Farmer, Rancher, or Nurseryman under the age of 40, Urban agriculture or agriculturist, Outstanding Woman in agriculture, and the Posthumous Memorial award. The Harvest Awards, now in its 20th year, recognize the accomplishments of farm families, individuals, and organizations for their achievement and commitment to agriculture and to preserve the agriculture heritage of Hillsborough County. Nomination forms are available at the County Fair web-page, Fair office, Extension Service, Florida Strawberry Growers Association, and the Soil and Water Conservation office in Plant City.
