Tampa Bay Rodeo & Family Festival

Back by popular demand! The Tampa Bay Rodeo and Family Festival gallops back into the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds April 14 to 16. Two fun-filled nights of bronc riding, barrel racing, BULL RIDING, delicious food and exciting games, plus a Sunday Family Festival Day (no rodeo). Wrangle your young cowpokes to compete in the very popular mutton bustin’ during the main event with on-site signup. Gates open at 4pm and Rodeo begins at 8pm on Friday and Saturday. Sunday Family Festival runs from 12-5pm. There’s something for everyone at this spring extravaganza including face painting, games and rides for the littlest wranglers. Tasty grub is available throughout the entire event, including BBQ, corn dogs, tacos, apple fries and much more.

Rodeo Competition

The Tampa Bay Rodeo is an EBA sanctioned event.  Bulls, broncs and barrels presented by 5S Bucking Bulls.  

Rodeo Facts

  • Bulls & Horses:
    • A bull can weigh between 1200-2000 lbs. The ideal weight for a bucking bull is approximately 1800 lbs.
    • A barrel saddle can weigh between 20-60 lbs.
    • A barrel horse runs approxmately 27 mph, sometimes reaching speeds of 55 mph.
    • The peak age for bucking bulls is 2-10 years old.
    • The peak age for horses is 3-15 years.
    • However, there are many high performing bulls and horses that far surpass these ages.  (The Tom Brady’s of the bucking bull and bronc world?)
    • 5S Bucking Bulls feeds 45 head of bulls and calves.  They eat 12 tons of feed and about 24 round bales of hay per month.
    • 5S Bucking Bulls also feeds 10 head of horses that eat 2500 lbs of feed and 50 bales of alfalfa hay per month.
  • Competitors
    • Competitors in EBA rodeos range in age from 7-55 years old
    • At the Tampa Bay Rodeo, there will be around 40 men and women competing:
