1st Annual Rain Barrel Decorating Contest

Open to school clubs, groups or classes
4-H Groups, 4H Clubs, FFA Chapters
THEME: ENRICHING THE ENVIRONMENT
One food grade plastic barrel will be provided for each group/club. Supplies are limited. First come, first served.
Each group/club must complete the “Rainwater Harvesting” workshop presented by the Hillsborough County Extension Service to be offered by: ZOOM Meeting or viewing the PowerPoint Presentation or on-site presentation by Lynn Barber, Florida Friendly Landscaping Agent.

- Pick up and return of barrel is applicant’s responsibility.
- To be picked up on the County Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 28 (1-5 pm)
- Decorated Barrels returned to Fairgrounds on Saturday, Sept. 18 (1-5 pm)Rain Barrels will be on display at the 2021 Hillsborough County Fair
- Judging will take place prior to fair opening

First Place $200 | Second Place $100 | Third Place $50 | Honorable Mention: $25
Applicant may choose to have decorated rain barrel entered in a Silent Auction of be picked up the day AFTER the fair closes.
Silent Auction will have bids being taken throughout the second weekend of the Fair. Sale proceeds will be paid directly to the club, class or chapter!
When decorated barrel is dropped off at Fairgrounds, please tape a 3×5 index card to the interior with the name of your group, class, club or chapter and contact information for your leader. Please, include phone number and email address.
Any applicant picking up a barrel, but not returning a barrel to the Fairgrounds will be charged a $20 fee.
Barrels receiving Price Monies will be on display at the Florida State Fair 2022 in the HCSWD Display. Arrangements will be made with a representative of that organization regarding details.
Rain Barrels will be judged on the following criteria:
- Interpretation of theme
- Use of Materials
